Bee protection

We are committed to creating an environment suitable for the life of bees, which are essential for achieving good harvests through their pollination of plant flowers.

What do we do for bees

Every year, over 3 hectares of flowering plants are sown to ensure adequate food resources for bees. The species used for this purpose include Phacelia (Phacelia tanacetifolia), Sainfoin (Onobrychis viciifolia), Sunflower (Helianthus Annuus), Jerusalem Artichoke (Helianthus tuberosus), and Vetch (Vicia Villosa).

The planting of these plants is done in separate strips that will bloom sequentially to ensure continuous food supply for the bees.

Alongside the flower strips, a crucial role in creating a suitable habitat is played by organic cultivation methods and the presence and management of wooded areas.

In 2021, a wonderful mandala-shaped garden covering an area of 1,500 square meters was created with the aim of promoting the life of wild bees and other insects, which play a fundamental role in the ecosystem.

This garden was carefully designed, incorporating various beds hosting plant species typical of the Maremma, thus contributing to the conservation of local flora.

The variety of plant species present, the presence of fallow land, and the definitive abandonment of herbicides and insecticides significantly safeguard animal welfare.
